Alternative Provision
GMTC is an alternative provision dedicated to empowering young people who have faced challenges within mainstream education. We believe that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work, which is why we collaborate closely with schools, parents, and local authorities to create a bespoke package for each young person. Our goal is to strip back traditional educational methods and build a learning plan that meets their individual needs, not force them to fit into a pre-existing system. At the start of each placement, we work with all stakeholders to develop fluid GMTC targets that are reviewed regularly to ensure their appropriateness. We understand that success looks different for everyone and we're committed to finding a path that works for them.
Our work is rooted in a growth mindset, and we're dedicated to helping young people transform their perspective on learning. We believe that by creating a supportive, flexible, and trusting environment, we can help them overcome past negative experiences. Our approach focuses on building confidence and re-establishing a positive connection with education. We're happy to work at a pace and in a style that suits each individual, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported every step of the way. During our sessions, we can support a range of different requirements, including education up to functional skills level, developing social interaction, and enhancing life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and money management. To keep everyone informed, we provide a weekly report highlighting progress and outlining the areas we will be working on.
We are also committed to meeting young people where they are, both emotionally and physically. Learning doesn't have to happen within the four walls of a classroom. We are flexible and willing to work in a variety of settings—whether that's in the young person's home, in the local community, or by exploring nature. This adaptability allows us to provide a safe and effective learning environment that is tailored to their comfort and needs, ultimately helping them champion their own future and, where appropriate, successfully reintegrate back into mainstream education
